Hi, I’m Jess

I’m a naturopath, a massive health nerd, a lifelong question-asker and someone who genuinely loves figuring out why people feel the way they do.

I’m also a wife, a mum, a person who gets busy, gets tired, forgets things, eats convenience food sometimes and understands that most people do not have three spare hours a day to dedicate to optimising their health.

And that probably tells you quite a lot about the way I practise.

I don't expect perfection from the people who come to see me.

I don't really believe in it.

What I do believe in is meeting you exactly where you are and working from there.

I want to know the whole story.

Yes, I want to see your blood tests.

I want to know about your medications, supplements, diet, sleep, digestion, hormones and health history.

But I also want to know you.

What's going on in your life? What are you worried about? What have you already tried? What do you think is going on? What are you already doing really well? And what could you realistically change right now without making your life harder?

I've never been interested in handing someone a giant protocol and sending them home to figure it out. If you're already exhausted and overwhelmed, the last thing you need is someone giving you seventeen more things to do.

Sometimes we need to start small.

Sometimes there's one glaringly obvious thing that needs our attention first.

Sometimes we need to investigate before we treat anything at all.

And sometimes you are ready to go all in.

We'll work that out together.

How I ended up here

My path to naturopathy wasn't really about wanting to work in “wellness”. It was about wanting to understand health.

I'm fascinated by physiology. I love pathology. I love herbal medicine. I love nutrition. I love research.

And I really love the moment when seemingly unrelated pieces of someone's health history start connecting.

I'm the person who wants to know why.

Why did this start? What changed around that time? What hasn't been investigated? Could these things be connected? Is there another explanation we need to consider? And what can we actually do about it?

That curiosity is probably one of the biggest things I bring into my consultations.

I'm a naturopath who likes doctors.

There. I said it.

I don't believe you need to choose between natural and conventional medicine.

There are things naturopathy does beautifully.

There are things modern medicine does extraordinarily well.

And there are plenty of situations where the best outcome comes from using both.

If I think you need to see your GP, I'll tell you.

If something needs further investigation, we'll talk about it.

If I think another practitioner would be better placed to help with part of your care, I'll happily refer you.

And if you're already working with a great healthcare team, I'm not interested in replacing them.

I want to work with them.

Because ultimately, I'm not here to prove that naturopathy is the answer to everything.

It isn't.

I'm here to help you.

Treatment should fit into your life, not require your life to revolve around treatment.

You might leave your first consultation with several things to work on.

You might leave with one.

Both can be good healthcare.

I'm much more interested in giving you a plan that you understand, believe in and can actually follow than creating something that looks impressive on paper.

We'll prioritise.

We'll adjust.

We'll celebrate what's working.

And if something isn't working, we'll change it.

No guilt.

No gold stars for being the “perfect patient”.

We're just trying to move things in the right direction.

My philosophy is pretty simple.

A little more about me

Outside the consultation room, I'm still fairly incapable of switching the health part of my brain off.

I love research and clinical problem-solving, and I'm particularly interested in complex cases, integrative healthcare and the future of naturopathy within the broader healthcare system.

I'm also someone with a real life outside of naturopathy.

I have a family. I work. I've studied for what feels like approximately 900 years. I've had periods where life has been incredibly busy and overwhelming.

So when someone tells me, “I know I should be doing all of this, but I just can't right now,” I understand.

We're not going to throw the whole plan away.

We're going to work out what is possible.
